Raised in Memphis by his grandmother Marene, Chef Jon learned early that food made with love, care, and simple, quality ingredients has the power to nourish far beyond the plate. His childhood favorites? Pinto beans and cast iron skillet cornbread—humble dishes that shaped his approach to cooking with intention.

While attending the University of Mississippi, Jon found himself working in the kitchen of celebrated chef John Currence—and from that moment on, the culinary path was set.

Since then, Jon has journeyed through a variety of restaurant kitchens, each one sharpening his skills and deepening his belief that mindfulness and simplicity are the keys to unforgettable food.

At City Grocery, he now leads the kitchen with a focus on thoughtful sourcing, precise technique, and dishes that reflect the stories and ingredients of the South.
